September 5

Seniors – Come to the main office today after school to vote on powder puff shirt design.

MHS Youth and Government will meet Tuesday (9/9) of Sept. in Mr. Browns room (B-14) from 3:15-4:00. 

MHS History Club will meet Wednesday the 10th of Sept. in Mr. Brown's room (B-14) from 3:15-4:00. 

Progress reports will be sent home with your student on Friday (9/12). 
Don’t forget the Junior/Senior dress sale tonight (9/5) from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm and tomorrow (9/6) from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. 

Don’t forget that Meghan O’Leary will be here to tell you how you can become a lifeguard today (9/5) during ELP in the auditorium.   You should only attend if you are interested in working as a life guard. 

Carruthers PTO will be working on the landscaping tomorrow (9/6) morning at 8:30.  Any Beta interested in earning service points can bring a shovel (if you have one) and come to the front of

Carruthers.  They will reschedule if it is pouring rain.

There will be Junior class powder puff practice on Tuesday (9/9) at 6:00 pm at Longfellow Park.  You must have a permission slip and pack page of handbook signed and turned in and a current physical on file before you can practice.

September 3

There is a Junior class meeting in the Auditorium today (9/3) during ELP.

There is a Key Club meeting tonight (9/3) at 8:00 in the auditorium.  $16 dues need to be turned in.  Apple Festival sign-ups will be on the agenda.

Balfour will be here during ELP today (9/3) with information for Seniors about graduation announcements/supplies. They will be during lunch that same day for underclassman to order class rings and letterman jackets.

Seniors – Powder puff practice is tonight (9/2) at 6:00 at Riverside Park.  Be sure to bring your permission slip, physical and proof of insurance.

The Junior and Senior class is sponsoring a dress and accessory sale on Friday, September 5th from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. and Saturday, September 6th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  You can sell your dresses for a small fee of $5.00 and shoes for $2.00.  You set the price and receive the money from the sale.  We are also accepting vendors to set up tables and sell or show things like flowers, jewelry, limo’s photographs, etc.  Contact Mrs. O’leary for more information.

Don’t forget about the Saluki game tonight.  Tickets are free for all Murphysboro High School students, just show your student ID and pick your ticket up at the tent near the gate.

The first meeting for FBLA will be tomorrow (8/26) at 7:45 in Ms. Scott’s room (C21)

There is a freshman meeting today during ELP in the auditorium.  Sophomores will meet on Tuesday, Juniors on Wednesday and Seniors on Friday.  All meetings will be held in the library. 

Many students are having trouble with locker jams.  The only way to fix this is to make sure that nothing is blocking the upper and lower latches on the left side of your locker.  If  ANYTHING is near or past that…your locker will jam.

There is an important Student Council meeting immediately after school in the library tomorrow (8/19)

There is a key club meeting for returning members only tomorrow night at 8:00 in the auditorium.  The new member invitation list will be finalized at this meeting.

Recycling will be picked up on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Please be sure your recycling bin is outside your door so that your class is not disturbed.

Yearbook order forms are available in the main office.  Be sure to pick one up.

Please empty all gum, food and trash off of your tray, into the trash can before placing your tray in the window.

If you are eating outside, do not take a plastic tray.  Be sure to get a throw away plate.
