February 27

Applications are due today for any student who received an invitation to join the Beta Club.  The deadline for your dues has been extended to next Friday, March 6.   See Ms. Goode for more info.

Today is the last day to serve any detentions that were missed during the snow week last week.  If they are not served, they will turn into a day of indoor suspension.

Key Club: If you missed this week's meeting, please stop and get an agenda in the Key Club Office. We especially need help with scrapbook shifts the next two weeks. Also remember that orange and grapefruit orders are due next Wednesday.

Attention all National Honor Society Members:  There will be a mandatory meeting for all members on Thursday, March 5 in Ms. Morris' room (A79) at 8:00 am.  It is very important that you attend.

It's time for the Class Penny Wars!  Donate your loose change during lunch to help your class win money for your Prom/SeniorFest account.  Also, the winning class reps will get to put a pie in the face of the losing class reps during halftime at the Faculty vs. Seniors basketball game next Friday, March 6.  All proceeds will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  See a Beta member for more info.

Congratulations to Jessica Stein for receiving three FBLA Business Achievement Awards: The Future Award, Business Award, and the CSA Community Award for 50 Hours of Community Service.

Congratulations to Agnes Vigardt for receiving the FBLA Business Achievement Future Award.

Softball tryouts will begin today at 3:30 in the gym.  You must have a current physical on file to tryout.

February 23

The Murphysboro Devil Bots competed very well last weekend at the Southern Illinois Skyrise Tournament. The team ranked 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 17th, won the tournament, and received two tournament finalist. The total team won the tournament Sportsmanship Award by displaying Murphy Pride while also shutting out Carbondale during the tournament finals. Wish the team luck this week as they head to Missouri to face tough competition for a State Championship on Saturday.

Softball tryouts will begin tomorrow at 3:30 in the gym.  You must have a current physical on file to tryout.

Any girls interested in trying out for softball should meet in the cafeteria during ELP on Thursday (2/19).  Report to your ELP for attendance and then go to the cafeteria.

If anyone is interested in competing in the HS Business Skills at John A Logan, please see Ms. Scott.

Permission slips and payment for the fan bus to Harrisburg on Saturday must be turned into the office by the end of the day today.  Seats are limited to 40 so get yours in early.

If you want a chef salad for lunch today, be sure to sign up on the sheet outside the exit door as you get your breakfast.

Orders and money are due tomorrow by 4:00pm to Mrs. Elwell.  All profits benefit the American Cancer Society.  There will also be basket raffles and a t shirt quilt the night of the game.
